Aww yeah!

I wish there's some kind of online version of it, and then we could make some kind of oppo truck driver racing :D

Can you explain modding to me? I want to mod but I hear it can affect your saved game, and I don't want to lose my progress. (54,000 kms).

If I were worried about losing my progress, I'd make a backup copy of my game save file, located at C:\Users\(username)\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\profiles (note that this is not the same location that the actual game has been installed to, which is likely somewhere in C:\Program Files\). In case something goes wrong, you can just use the file you backed up. The game actually creates its own backups of your save game, so you're really covered.

That being said, having your save game go sour isn't likely if you're careful of a few things:

1: Avoid installing or removing mods while you are in the middle of a "job". If you're in the middle of a job (you have a trailer attached), finish the job by delivering the trailer to its destination. This precaution is really only necessary when adding or removing certain types of mods (see #2), but it's a good habit to get in to if you're worried about screwing things up.

2. Some types of mods have a higher likelihood of causing trouble than others. Mods that add entirely new types of trailers (and therefore cargo types) and/or entirely new pick-up and drop-off points (such as map mods) can cause trouble, especially if they're added or removed while on a job. Mods that only change the textures (paintjobs, logos, etc.) are basically idiot-proof and don't generally cause any problems, even if they're added or removed while on a job.

If you'd like to "test the waters" and wade in to adding mods, try something small and simple like my " Real logos for heavy-duty equipment " mod (see below). It's nothing more than textures, so it won't affect the game save. Simply extract the file "lone_HDequip.scs" to the game's mod folder at C:\Users\(username)\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\mod. Start the game, select your profile, and instead of clicking "Continue", select "Edit". There should be a panel on the right with "Active Mods". Check the box next to the mod(s) that you'd like to use. If you have more than one Profile (driver character/career), these are independent of each other. So, you could use some modes with one profile, and others (or none) with another profile. Good luck, and happy trucking!

Many, if not all, of the default heavy-duty equipment models are based on real-world ones, but with the brand logos removed. This mod will replace the skins for many (though not all) of the default machinery, with proper logos, graphics, and more accurate colours. Some are exact replicas, and all are based on real-world models as accurately as possible.

Some equipment will appear only on the roadside, some only as cargo on trailers, and some both on trailers or stationary.

Though I haven't tested it, this mod may also work with GTS and UKTS.

Higher resolution screenshots are available on my ETS2 flickr set .

UPDATE July 12, 2013: I have tested this mod in version 1.3.1 and 1.4.1, and have found no issues with it. Regardless, if you find any incompatibilities, I welcome your feedback.

I should add that mods do not permanently replace, alter, or otherwise modify the game installation files. You can disable any number of mods via the "Active Mods" panel when you edit your profile, or permanently remove/delete any number of mods from the "mod" folder.

Thanks for the help. When I have some spare time, I should finish this job, then put a skin in.
